The Mountaineering Institute at Solang Nallah is a good training ground for mountaineering enthusiasts.For adventurous and interpid mountaineers there are peaks of every variety with comparison of both easy and tough.At aleo which is at the right bank of river beas  has a special western himalya mountaineerin institute .The training offers training in skiing,treking,hiking and mountaineering.The institute also offers winter sports competitions.The trekkers can also hire all kind of equipments for treks.There are several good hikes from Manali. The 12-km hike up the western banks of the Beas to the Solang Valley is worth all the efforts made. Lama Dugh meadow is a six-km hike up to the Manalsu Nallah, west of Manali town.
